Carnes Crossroads

The ownership of Carnes Crossroads is comprised of many of the same individuals and entities who are developing Charleston’s Daniel Island, an award-winning master planned community that is home to approximately 10,000 residents and a diverse mix of businesses, schools and recreational offerings. The Daniel Island Company has been dedicated to Daniel Island’s development for 20 years, since the first homes were built. At Carnes Crossroads, it is creating a “sister community” that thoughtfully combines residential and commercial uses and evolves as a gathering place for this new center of growth in the region.

Day-to-day development activities at Carnes Crossroads are being managed by the DI Development Company, one of the most experienced community development teams in the southeast.

Carnes Crossroads Real Estate is the exclusive source for new homes at Carnes Crossroads, representing all five builders and providing a convenient way to shop for a new home. Located in a residential home on Model Row, the Information Center is where you’ll find our team of experts, ready to help you learn more about the community, amenities and any of the homes in our first neighborhoods.

D.R. Horton

Over 35 years ago, Donald R. Horton had a vision: Of livable and affordable new homes built with unmatched efficiencies and uncompromising quality; Of family traditions passed on to new generations; Of a business that would grow by making customers’ dreams a reality.

That philosophy of creating value every step of the way was the Company's signature focus when Horton unveiled his first neighborhood in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area over three decades ago. As the Company grew from a local homebuilder, to a regional homebuilder, to ultimately the largest homebuilder in the United States, that philosophy has never wavered.

Today, D.R. Horton continues to demonstrate its leadership in residential development through design innovation, superior craftsmanship, and responsiveness to the needs of its customers.

The simple vision that began over 35 years ago represents years of value and security when you choose America's Builder to make your dreams come true.

D.R. Horton has claimed the top spot of the Builder 100 list from 2002-2015 of BUILDER Magazine.

Mungo Homes

Currently ranked the 37th largest builder in the country by Builder magazine, the Mungo family started building new homes in Columbia, South Carolina in 1954. With a track record of success based on quality, value and stability, Mungo Homes — still family-owned and operated — builds new homes in eight markets throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.

Mungo Homes was named America’s Best Builder 2012 by BUILDER Magazine – an award for overall excellence in new homebuilding based on finance/operations, design/construction, customer service/quality, community/industry service and marketing. The National Association of Home Builders honored Mungo Homes as the National Green Advocate of the Year 2012 for hauSmart, Mungo’s exclusive energy-efficiency program. The company was also recognized as the winner of the 2008 National Housing Quality Award and is the only South Carolina-based builder ever honored with this prestigious award.

Along with success comes responsibility. Our principals, Steven and Stewart Mungo, recognize their role as community leaders and are honored to participate on many civic boards and philanthropic committees. Employees with each company are encouraged to get involved, and they do. Many serve on boards and committees supporting education, healthcare, non-profit and civic organizations, the arts, and, of course, the home building industry. Many are either officers in their churches or teach Sunday school. On a corporate level, Mungo Homes support The National Kidney Foundation, Oliver Gospel Mission, the National Park Service, EdVenture Children’s Museum, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Keep America Beautiful, Pawmetto Lifeline, Wofford College, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and many, many other organizations.

Saussy Burbank returned from the annual International Builder Show in Las Vegas (Jan 2016) with a Best in American Living™ Award (BALA) for the company’s model home at Nexton in Summerville, S.C. The company won the silver award for its model, The Cypress. “The BALA award is one of the building industry’s highest honors,” said Al McNeill, a partner in Saussy Burbank. “We are humbled and ecstatic to have won our second BALA award and gratified that our industry recognizes our top-quality craftsmanship, design aesthetic and our homes’ livability.”

BUILDER Magazine featured Saussy Burbank in their July 2015 issue, with an article titled “How the Downturn Pushed a Small Builder to Break New Ground.” The article spotlights a recently sold infill home in the Mt Pleasant, the historic town across the Cooper River from South Carolina’s famed colonial city, Charleston. The home is located within Mt Pleasant’s oldest neighborhood, Old Village, which dates back to the 1750s.
